Personal comments from former Chair, Lion Don Buller

When I joined Lions in April of 1961, we gave 25 pairs of shoes, 5 per school (no more), from Priddy’s Shoes from down town. Lions had to be drafted to take the kids. It was a choice, not a privilege. Today we feel left out if we do not get to participate because we were absent on sign up day. During my 10 years as chair, we increased from 30+ pairs to 50+ pairs per year and the budget increased accordingly. We received outside donations my last year and during Chris Brewer’s first year as chair, to increase the total to 80+ pairs today.
